Newsletter Summary For 29-July-2000:

The subject of Today's Vidyyasm was sparked by a report (included in this issue) in the Morbidity & Mortality Weekly Report regarding the incidence and prevalence of stalking and the subsequent public health issues that arise when a stalker turns to violence. The report concluded that one in six women have been stalked. One third of those women were physically harmed by their stalker.

Other articles in this issue are: a 110 page guide for health professionals, published by the CDC, that includes programs and interventions about domestic violence and intimate partner violence; plus, two fact sheets on intimate partner violence and the role of the male batterer.

We concluded this issue with a guideline for health professionals regarding the screening for family violence.
