Emerging, hemorrhagic, viral and bacterial diseases made news this week for a number of reasons. On the bright side, scientists at the NIH appear to be closing in on the characteristics that make the Ebola virus so very deadly. On the dark side, dengue and leptospirosis are causing death and disability in Bangladesh and Thailand.
Today's Vidyyasm summarizes the recent news on ebola, dengue and leptospirosis and provides some background information on dengue and ebola.
As climate changes effect the global environment, (see Vidyya, 1(97)) these diseases can be expected to become more virile and widespread.
