The National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network launched a year ago by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) with grants to six research facilities has been expanded to include an additional five regional research centers and a total of almost 70 community based treatment programs.

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) announced the availability of a summary of an evidence report on the management of acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD.) The objectives of the AHRQ report are to assess the evidence currently available on the diagnosis, prognosis, and management of acute exacerbation of COPD, and on the use of noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV) in patients with acute respiratory failure secondary to acute exacerbation of COPD. Get the summary in today's issue.
