Gift Ideas: Fun and Enriching Books, Videos, And CDs For Computers
From The
American Academy Of Pediatrics
The
resources in this article represent a treasure trove that will educate and
entertain children. Part of the joy of the holidays
is sharing information with families. Most of the time medical
information if provided, but its important to support parents and professionals in their role as teachers of children. Giving books to children and parents encourages them to read together. Other media, such as videos and CDs, have become popular
in the past decade.
What follows are lists of books, videos, and CDs for computers
that you can share with your families. The book list is organized both
alphabetically and by age-appropriate categories. All of the lists were
compiled with help from friends, colleagues, librarians, child life
specialists, book dealers, and the families. One reference that was useful in preparing this article is a book
that lists quality books, magazines, videos, audio materials, software, toys,
and travel resources.1
A new catalog is available that presents more than 700 videotapes and
CD-ROMs suitable for children.2
Please share these lists with your families.
