Nearly 3 million Pakistanis are affected by
Tuberculosis (TB) annually and the number is growing due to lack of awareness
and prompt treatment.
A call for help was issue last Thursday at a news conference by Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz, President of the Punjab Anti-Tuberculosis Association.
"The number of women affected by this disease is larger as compared to men," he
Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz appealed to the Government to declare TB as a notified
disease. He said World Health Organization has proclaimed world emergency as TB
is closely connected with AIDS.
