Fathers With High Self Esteem Are More Active With Their Children
Fathers with positive
personality attributes are more likely to spend time caring for their children than fathers with fewer positive personality attributes. Positive
attributes include higher self-esteem, lower levels of
depression and hostility, and better psychological
adjustment. Younger fathers, those who work fewer hours and whose
incomes constitute a smaller percentage of total family
income spend more time in caregiving activities than fathers who work more hours and who contribute a higher
