Possible Clues For Avoiding Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
The incidence of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) has decreased markedly over the past
decade since recommendations were made in several countries to place infants in a nonprone position when sleeping. However,
SIDS remains the leading cause of infant death beyond the neonatal period in the United States, and 20 percent of US infants
continue to sleep prone. Despite the established increased risk of SIDS with prone sleep, the cause of death is still under
debate. One proposed reason for infant mortality is that when an infant sleeps sleeping facedown, "rebreathing" of expired air

A 2,000 Year-Old Technique May Hold The Key To Acupuncture's Therapeutic Effect : A New Study
Establishes A Link Between Needle Manipulation And Biomechanical Effects
Western medical experts have been inherently skeptical of acupuncture's therapeutic value for the
treatment of pain and other medical conditions. One reason is that it seems very unlikely that the simple act of inserting fine
needles into tissue could elicit any effect at all, let alone wide-ranging and long-lasting therapeutic effects. Acupuncture needles
are of a finer gauge than even the finest hypodermic needles (not considered therapeutic); acupuncture rarely results in a single
drop of blood being discharged. more
