Home caregivers showed rapid recuperation from depression within 3 months of the death of their demented relatives and the improvements continued for a year, according to the first detailed study of caregivers and the end of life. The findings, reported in the November 13, 2003, New England Journal of Medicine, are based on data from REACH (Resources for Enhancing Alzheimer's Caregiver Health), a 5-year, multi-site initiative investigating interventions to support family caregivers.  more
