Human cases of avian influenza: situation in Viet Nam
Three deaths from avian influenza were announced on 12 August 2004. The cases in the northern Ha Tay province of Viet Nam and included a four-year-old boy, who died on 2 August, and an 11-month-old girl, who died on 4 August. The case in the southern Hau Giang province was a 25-year-old woman, who died on 6 August. Specimens from this patient have now tested positive for the H5N1 strain of avian influenza. more
